The Batten School is led by Dean Allan Stam. Before joining the Batten School he was the Director of the International Policy Center at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and Professor of Political Science at the University of Michigan. His research focuses on the dynamics of armed conflict between and within states.

L. Douglas Wilder School of Public Policy and Administration

The L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University blends theory and practice, preparing students for jobs that make a difference.

The Wilder School offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees in criminal justice, homeland security and emergency preparedness, public administration, public policy and administration, and urban and regional planning and studies, plus graduate certificates in several related fields.
