Tips for Hub Managers

Summary

Hub Managers like Post Curators require no programming skills to manage a Hub. Every Hub has a lead manager with 1 or more associate managers.

The initial focus of every new Hub is to come up with the top level and 2nd level categories. Top level categories are displayed as tabs on the home page and 2nd level categories as drop downs. Hubs can also have 3rd and 4th level categories. Categories can be arranged in whatever order the Hub manager(s) prefer.

Other key functions are:

  • Monitoring the quality and appropriateness of post content and the civility of post forums and onAircasts
  • Reviewing new submitted posts and selecting categories for them and their order
  • Overseeing a Hub’s YouTube channel and social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook, and Twitter
  • Managing Hub members and responding to their feedback and questions as well as inappropriate behavior
  • Finding and interacting with Hub sponsors

Each Hub has a number of Google Docs to assist managers in collaborating with other managers online.

Future: Turn on contextual help (?) to see pop-up boxes that explain how to do a a particular task.
