Margaret Ransone is a mother, wife, successful business woman, lifelong resident of Westmoreland County, and citizen legislator who represents the 99th District in the Virginia House of Delegates.
Margaret’s background in natural resources in the rural community have proven to be an asset for all Virginians as she serves in the House of Delegates.
In the House of Delegates, Margaret serves on 4 committees: Commerce and Labor, Courts of Justice, Privileges & Elections, and Agriculture, Chesapeake & Natural Resources. In addition, she has been appointed as Chairwoman of the Elections Sub-Committee. Margaret was recently appointed to the State Water Commission. Margaret also serves on the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund, Joint Subcommittee to Study Mental Health Services in the 21st Century and the Brown v. Board of Education Scholarship Awards Committee. She has previously served on the Chesapeake Bay Commission, the Rural Jobs Task Force, the School and Campus Safety Task Force, and was a board member of the Seafood Council.
Margaret is a lifelong resident of Westmoreland County and couldn’t think of a better place to raise a family with her husband, Todd. The Ransones are strong Christians who are active in their local church.
Margaret is a Randolph Macon College alumna with a BA in Psychology and minor in Religion.

Protecting our Property Rights
These rights are not given to us by our government. We have earned our property and have the authority on its use.
As a Delegate, I will continue to defend our property rights from government overreach.
Defending Our Second Amendment Rights
As Virginia is the cradle of American liberty, I will always fight for the rights guaranteed to us by the Virginia and U.S. Constitutions. I am a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment and support the rights of gun owners, hunters, and sportsmen.

Standing Up for Our Traditional Values
I will always defend the Right to Life and all traditional family values.

Education
I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to receive a high-quality education that prepares a child to be college-ready or career-ready at graduation. I also believe that education works best at the local level with input from parents, teachers, and citizens.
As a Delegate, I have worked with my colleagues to remove burdensome state regulations, give localities greater flexibility over education dollars, and bring greater accountability and transparency to our schools.

Achieving Energy Independence
Soaring energy costs stifle job growth and make it harder for families to make ends meet. I believe we must tap into the abundant resources on our own soil and support lifting the moratorium on Virginia’s off shore drilling once necessary safeguards to protect the environment and the marine life are in place.
Supporting Our Small Business Job Creators & Preserving Our Northern Neck Way of Life
As a lifelong resident of the Northern Neck, I understand the impact of our small privately owned businesses in our community. I understand the pride of labor intensive work and craftsmanship, maintaining personal relationships with customers, standing by your product, and being responsible to other business owners and clients. I strongly support our local natural and historical resources that help create new jobs and spur economic growth.

In Richmond, I strive to be a voice for the hard working people that are the foundation of small communities across America. I believe we can best secure our future by developing a friendly business climate in Virginia with less government involvement. That’s why I am working to help create jobs and opportunities locally by cutting wasteful programs and reducing the tax burden for our families. I am a strong supporter of Virginia’s Right to Work laws and support inclusion of our Right to Work law into our state constitution.
We need to encourage new stable, long term jobs for the area in the technical and medical fields.
